Vision Powered Coaching/ Iris J. Arenson-Fuller, PCC
My website address is: https://visionpoweredcoaching.com. I am Coach Iris Arenson-Fuller, residing in CT, USA.
I believe in transparency and honesty and want you to know how I use your data. I will never, ever sell your name or personal info to anyone, and will never release it without your explicit permission.
In a nutshell, the European G.D.P.R. takes effect on May 25, 2018. I only have a few Europeans on my mailing list right now, and at this moment, no European clients (You’re always welcome, though, Europeans, and others). Of course, that could change at any point, so I want to be in compliance. Now, if you know me, I’m not one to keep my feelings and opinions to myself, so I will tell you that this is a royal pain in the “you-know-what”. As a solopreneur, I have a pretty small, personalized business.
This just seems like overkill for a little businesses like mine. I’m not all that tech savvy, so I had to ask my helpers how to do this and I opted to keep it as low-tech as possible.
Frankly, I didn’t even know if I do, or don’t, use cookies or save info on my site. The cookies I know all too well are macadamia chocolate chip, or peanut butter.
Here’s what I learned:
- Mailing List: If you have joined my Mail Chimp mailing list, yes, we save the information entered there. You have the option of unsubscribing at the bottom of EVERY post. If you don’t want to wait till you get a new post, just email me at ir**@vi*******************.com and ask to be removed from the Mail Chimp mailing list for Vision Powered Coaching. I hope you don’t, because I like having you as part of my community and I really don’t bombard people with a lot of mail.
- Contact Forms: If you have filled out a Contact Me form on my web site, visionpoweredcoaching.com, I do keep your name and contact info, and IP address, and add you to my mailing list, unless you ask me to do otherwise.
- Comments to my blog posts:
(Info from WordPress Organization)When visitors leave comments on my web site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
(If you don’t know exactly what that means, don’t worry, because I don’t get all this tech stuff either, but essentially, I am informing you of what I’m supposed to. If you are someone who so values your anonymity, you probably would not be commenting anyway, but here’s a thought…You may privately email me, and unless you ask to be put on my mailing list, or to have me post your comment, it will be just between the two of us! …ir**@vi*******************.com I would love to hear from you, as long as you are not trying to spam or scam me. )
- Forms to request free downloadable gifts or perks from me: If you have requested one of my downloadable special gifts on my web site, you are automatically added to my mailing list to receive my periodic mailings. You may then have the option of unsubscribing from the list when you receive a mailing.
- Free gifts, blog posts, etc: If you want to continue interacting with me, receiving gifts and downloads, subscribing to my blog posts, etc. then you should remain on my mailing list and should maintain your blog subscription. If not, you have the option to unsubscribe from my blog or mailing list, as mentioned above, or you may just ask me to remove you. I will do it best to do it ASAP in my very manual, non-high tech way. I would rather you do it yourself, to be truthful, as I have enough to do, but hey, that’s the cost of having a business. I get that!
(If you want to be removed, I’ll miss you in my community, so truly hope you don’t leave. If you decide to, please let me know what I could improve that would make you want to return.) Seriously!
- Re: Facebook: I think Facebook will also put out some G.D.P.R. compliant policies, if they haven’t already done so. I do not keep any records of people with whom I interact on Facebook unless they join my mailing list, (See above) engage my professional services, etc. I make use of the information they have provided to Facebook, but do not record it anywhere.
- Media: To the best of my knowledge, I don’t upload images to the website that have embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included.
- Payments: I mostly accept payments the old fashioned way, by check in the mail, in advance of services, or via PayPal where you have several payment options. They have their own privacy policies on their site.
- Cookies: (This info comes from WordPress, that has put into place its own GDPR Polices and Procedures) ) If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. - Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
- Who I share your data with:
Not applicable at this time.
- How long I retain your data:
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
- What rights you have over your data:
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
- Where I send your data:
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
- How I protect your data: I treat your contact info and data with respect and care. The above summarizes on line contacts. For clients who engage me as paid coaching clients, if I retain any information or notes about them on paper, this is kept in a locked file and shredded when we complete our work together. Since I founded and directed a licensed, non-profit adoption agency for about 30 yrs prior to establishing my coaching practice, I was bound to comply with some stringent State and Federal regulations about privacy, so I am not careless or casual about this. Nobody else has access to any information about you.
- What third parties we receive data from: I subscribe to some coaching directories or paid services for professionals, and, as such, sometimes receive information from them so that I may contact you. Each service has its own privacy and GDPR compliant policies now. They are sites or services to which you, the prospective client, went to register your need for coaching help and services, and you were then referred to me, or I was referred to you.
- Industry regulatory disclosure requirements: As a certified professional coach, credentialed by the International Coach Federation, I subscribe to the policies and ethics of this well-respected organization. There are no industry regulations for coaches in the United States at this time.
Now, if you’re done reading all of this, please go on to read more interesting things on my site and my blog, or head outside into nature to enjoy the nice day. Maybe go get yourself that delicious ice cream cone I mentioned above!
