If you are anything at all like me, you will want to know what makes me stand out. Please be sure to check out the Reviews page to see what so many clients I’ve worked with have said about me. I am all about relationships and service. I am sure you will see that as you read.
I have a big heart, accompanied by some very practical, solution-oriented skills. Finding better ways to do things and to help you have a better, happier and more successful life is my WHY. I love contributing to the world and improving people’s lives in a variety of ways.
I do my best to be accessible to my coaching clients. People who are suffering, and those who truly want to make important changes, need a great deal of support.
I’ve heard from clients that I am “wise”, due to my broad life experience, yet also pretty cool for “someone my age”. I don’t really know about either of those labels, to be truthful. I know I’ve learned many important lessons on my life journey.
The tides of life can turn in a moment. I have seen it personally. I understand how everything you relied on, and expected would be permanent, can shift underneath your feet, or even disappear and can leave you stumbling and afraid. I’ve been forced to reinvent my own life and career several times over. This provided more education than my actual education, in many ways.
I have combined skills from my studies and background in psychology, sociology and the arts, as well as life credentials, as I call them. My life credentials were earned through young widowhood, raising a multicultural family, building a strong second marriage, deaths of many family and friends, and founding and operating a non-profit adoption agency for thirty years. I have raised four kids to adulthood, and am a grandmother of two.
My experience in starting and running two businesses has taught me important human resource management and team/people skills. These skills enhance my personal strengths and ability to help a variety of people.
I have spent years as a caregiver familiar with chronic illness, as well as dementia. I am an expert at hanging on, hanging in and starting over!
During my decades of experience in the helping professions, I used a coaching and client-centered approach with adoptive families long before anyone used those words to describe it.
All of my personal journeys have taught me to be strong and versatile. These have turned out to be invaluable tools for me to use in my coaching practice.
I am also a writer/poet, who has won a variety of prizes and awards throughout my life, starting in my youth.
My training as a life coach was though an intensive program from the International Coach Academy. I have had additional continued and ongoing training & skills enhancement, via courses and work with coaching experts and mentors over the years. My coaching credential is from the International Coach Federation, the gold-standard global organization for coaching.
All of the above has given me an impressive arsenal of creative, though highly practical techniques that have worked for me and for my clients.
Now that you have learned about me, I want to learn more about you and what you need and want to accomplish.
I know what it’s like to have to make some terribly hard choices. I know that sometimes we are given second chances.
It’s our job to make the most of them, and to do our best to take control of those things we DO have control over.
I am a survivor and I bet you are too, though you may not yet recognize it. You may not know how to access the best parts of yourself, and the skills and strengths that will help you through tough times, and turn them into something positive.
That’s where I come in and how working with me as your coach can help you. Let’s work on helping you go beyond survival. It’s time to discover the “MORE”.
