Poetry Sampling by Iris J. Arenson-Fuller
Poetry Paint Chips or Samples from Iris
In this section, you will find just a few samples of my #poetry. I have decided to limit this section, because most who are visiting this site are not coming here due to their interest in my poetry. Yet, poetry is a huge part of who I am, and who I have always been.
If you are interested, you can check out my poetry collection released in 2019, that has received many accolades. It is available for purchase on Amazon.com, (various countries) and at Barnes & Noble and at select bookstores in CT. I have been a writer and poet for most of my life. It all began when I was three and composed some poems that I dictated to my sister, ten years my senior. I have never really stopped writing.
As you know, I am also a credentialed, certified, Professional Life Coach, specializing in loss, tough life stage changes, (family, relationship, or other changes) life reinvention at any age, and adoption issues. I often use creative writing as a tool in my work with my coaching clients too, when they are open to it. Writing exercises help us release thoughts and feelings and process our present situations. It also helps us find new insights and to achieve important breakthroughs, so we can more easily set new goals and make plans for changes we wish to implement.
As a teen and young woman, I was published in various anthologies and magazines. Then the role of motherhood, directing the adoption agency I founded and ran for about thirty years, and care giving for various relatives, caused me to take a detour, away from writing as much as I might have liked, and from having any time to seek publication, until the last several years. One of the reasons I decided it was time to step down from the adoption agency, was to devote more time to my writing and other interests. In recent years, I have been published in a variety of on line and print publications. I also do poetry readings, as well.
I have been honored to have been the recipient of several prizes and awards over the years.
Many editors and publishers do not want to even consider work that has been previously published, even on personal blogs, so with regret, I will not be sharing a lot of new poetry here. That's why I have included some samples only and have taken down most of my work. If you are a fan of my work , please do check out my published collection. Poets aren't exactly rolling in money, or most poets anyway, so your support will be greatly appreciated.
Below are a few links for some of work that has been published on line that you may view. Obviously, I can't link to publications that appear in print and for which there is, or was a purchase price.
